SWGA Sterling Farms 9-Hole League

The SWGA (Stamford Women’s Golf Assn), formed in 2019, is comprised of two public courses in Stamford: Sterling Farms and Hubbard Heights (E Gaynor Brennan). Women’s leagues have been playing at both clubs for many years. The Hubbard Heights Women’s Golf Association was formed in 1955. The Sterling Farms Women’s Golf Club was formed in 1971. SWGA welcomes all women who meet our handicap requirements. To join, submit your USGA Handicap Index, or three 18-hole scorecards or six 9-hole scorecards, with your application and dues to the Membership Chair.

New members with handicaps of 40 or lower may apply to the 18-holers. For weekly events and majors, max handicap is capped at 40.

For tournament play, 9-holers are, except as noted below, limited to 9-hole handicaps of 21 to 32. Members with handicaps over 32 may participate only to a max handicap of 32. Upon reaching a 9-hole handicap of 20 or less, a 9-hole member may apply to join the 18-hole group. 9-hole members with handicaps of 20 or less will only be eligible for prizes in stroke play competition on the first Tue/Thu of each month.

SWGA offers 18-hole members the option to join the Southern New England Women’s Golf Association (SNEWGA) and Southern CT Women’s Golf Association (SCWGA) to play in their team and individual competitions at various golf courses across CT; register on the application & pay SCWGA dues. Visit www.snewga.org to learn more about SNEWGA.
